Skill Level (3/10):
This pattern is considered beginner to intermediate depending on the materials that you choose. Sequins can be tricky to work with and can add their own level of complexity to a project. The pattern itself is however easy and straight forward. It is recommended that you have basic plush sewing knowledge, but it is not completely necessary.
Dimensions:
4 1/2 in (11.2 cm) tall
7 1/2 in (19 cm) long
3 1/2 in (9 cm) wide
Material Information:
The materials used on the example chicks are a mix of cuddle luxe minky, solid minky, and reversible sequins. Cuddle luxe is a longer pile version of solid minky that makes these chicks look extra puffy. It however can sometimes be hard to find in stores, so you can substitute it for extra short faux fur, mohair, rose minky, solid minky, or even fleece, velour, or faux suede.
The tail is made from reversible sequins. These can be difficult to work with and will need to be hand sewn unless you own a sewing machine strong enough to sew through them. You can also use minky for the tail or any other scale materials you might run across. Just be sure to add a stabilizer to the back of your pieces if you use something that is particularly stretchy.
